Operation Paint Bedroom

Finally finally finally.

I finished my room.

I'm so happy I could cry.

I'm so proud I could cry.

I'm so exhausted I could cry.

I could've cried. But I didn't. I just stood in front of my room and admired the pretty colours.

After almost two weeks of sand-papering, pattieing, masking-taping, etc, I finally finally finished painting my room.

Who would've thought that only a fortnight ago my room was a boring beige coloured hole [no offence to those who have beige as their room colour]?

Who would've thought that because of my attempt to get over Muay Boy I decided to do a little bit of a makeover?

Who would've thought that I'm not the old Nikki-who-only-talks-and-doesn't-walk anymore?

Definitely not me.

And not my stepdad.

And not my mum.

Everyone including me was a bit skeptic that I would only go as far as starting it and leave my stepdad to finish it for me.

He didn't think I'd finish it, dad said.

I asked my mum if she can help out.

She didn't want to get into that, she said.

So I went to the hardware shop with my stepdad and decided on what colour to buy.

Who would've thought that there are literally thousands of colours that you can put on your wall?

So how can I decide which colour to splatter all over my wall?

Finally, after hours of debating with myself, I decided to get the typical purple and pink combination that I'd known and loved since I was a kid.

I emerged from the hardware shop with two cans of paint grinning like a kid who just sat on Santa's lap. One for the cornice[?] and the other for the wall.

I cleared my room from any crap that had been hibernating there for sometime. I'm actually surprised that I didn't see any mushrooms there.

So I listened to my mp3 and started sand-papering. It was hard work. I actually thought I'd just stir the paint and start painting.

I didn't know that I had to put newspaper on the carpet so it won't get stained.

I didn't know you had to put a masking tape on both end of the cornice so that the paint would be perfect.

I didn't know that you had to unscrew the electricity outlets so you can paint evenly.

I didn't know that you have to clean the wall so the paint can stick for a long time.

A lot of stuff I didn't know.

Stupid, Nikki.

So yeah, it took me two weeks to finish.

In all fairness, though. I do have two jobs I need to go to every week. I do have university to attend lectures and tutorials to every week and I do have a life and friends I need to catch up with every week.

So in total, I think I did pretty good.

Everyone, say hello to my new room.
