My one true friend
Will always be my mum. Sure, we have our differences. We get in each other's throats and we say some crazy stuff to each other but at the of the day, we always say, goodnight and sweet dreams before we sleep.
My mum is always there no matter what. I cannot thank her enough for being the friend that stood by me when I lost my sister. She didn't even have to care but she did because she saw me hurting. She just stood there and watched me cry. Heaving a sigh and getting me glasses of water. When she saw that I was finished bawling my eyes out, she sat on the bed and played with my hair.
Don't punish yourself for something that you didn't do, it just happened, she told me.
It was the truth. I told her I felt bad and she didn't say that I shouldn't. She just listened and wiped the tears from my eyes. She stayed with me the whole afternoon silently checking whether I was asleep or still crying.
I thought I needed my friends. I do need my friends. But one the one friend that really came through was my mum.
She's the best. She's good in crisis and she takes care of me. I guess you really know who comes through for you when you need them the most and lucky me, it was my mum. I don't need to look for a good friend outside my family. I have my mum and I think that's enough for me.
Who else can make macaroni chicken salad in flash when she sees her daughter crying? Macaroni chicken salad is the only food that puts me in a good mood and she knows it and she made it for me to lift up my spirits for a bit.
I love her to bits.
I really, really do.
