The technology lurker in me is alive and kicking

I wasn't contented with my purchase of my new mobile phone.

Today Emmet and I went to Retravision, Domayne and Harvey Norman to look for good laptops.

I wasn't really planning on buying a laptop. Because as Emmet said, I know you. You will get the first thing that you see. And knowing you, you will buy the laptop with shit memory but color green or purple.

He was right, of course.

I had my eye on a good Mac computer mainly because it was coloured white. It looks so slick and chic that I just wanted to take it home straight away.

Kudos to Emmet for being a computer nutty, he knows what to look for and what to get and what I need.

Don't you just love men who can read you inside out?

Anyway, with my budget and with what I need, we settled for this.

A good enough laptop, Emmet said.

Good enough? I think it's great! It has an intel Centrino Duo [Whatever that means, I'm just reading the manual here!], built-in webcam, bluetooth, built-in microphone, DVD burner and the memory is pretty good as well. It's somewhere between 1GB something.

I love it!

We had a pretty good deal. Emmet can sweet-talk his way, I tell you. We had a three year warranty, a laptop case and a 24/7 technical support membership.

I also like the fact that it's so light. I love it I love it I love it!

Ok, so don't put crap in your computer, Emmet said.

That means, no more Need for Speed, Diablo and Grand Theft Auto games for Baby Nikki.

Uncle Lucio inherited my desktop and he deleted every single software and programs that were installed in my old computer. Needless to say, my computer, who was my least favourite techie gadget in the world is becoming reliable.

I just don't think it likes me, that's all.

Who cares, I got me a cool laptop.

And since I felt like spending money that I don't have, I bought a printer too.

It's an all in one printer with fax. I don't know why I bought it. It just looked good and I know Mum needs a fax machine so that's probably why.

I love Emmet for taking the time to go shopping with me even though he was tired from work and was coming back for the night shift. My boy has been working so hard he was feeling the stress. But still he went with me and did the shopping with me.

Need any more reasons why I love him?

Well here's another one

He's becoming really close to my mum. He called me this afternoon to tell me that he had just finished work.

Where are you, he asked.

Can I speak to tita, he added.

So I handed the phone to Mum and they chatted for about five minutes. I said my goodbye to Emmet when mum handed the phone back to me.

That boy loves you, Mum said.

He asked me if you've been complaining that he doesn't spend as much time with you anymore.

He asked if you had said something.

He said that he feels guilty for being busy.

I do feel neglected but I never say it out loud because I know that he needs to work and life gets in the way.

It's hard organising my schedule with him. But I never complain because I hate putting too much stress on something completely irrelevant. He spends his time with me when he can. That's enough for me.

Plus I can't really complain about him working too hard. I've been working like an underpaid circus freak since I started this menacing job.

I don't have time to do anything else. It's amazing how things with Emmet are going great when I barely put an effort on it because of work and uni.

I only have time for work and uni.

Plus if I get really lucky, being sick. I've been taking Vitamin C for the past week now. I chew two tablets a day and I can tell it's doing wonders. I don't feel as sick as before.

Mum wants me to take Multivitamins instead of drinking red bull but I just can't find the time to buy the vitamins.

It's weird how I get two days off [not consecutive, mind you] and it's still not enough to unwind and relax.

I think I really am growing up.
